While scouting a football game to feed his appetites, he spots her, and there’s no doubt in his mind that she’s The One. He executes the perfect plan to kidnap her and take her to his place in the country to have and to hold till death do them part. Unfortunately for him, the people who care for her won’t let that happen.

The Price of Normal Killing People Volume 2 Meb Bryant Lori Petak 9781539385035 Books

When a narrative in a story is written in first person, it becomes more intimate, more real, more empathic. Or, you might be tempted to say, depending on the genre, more terrifying.
With The Price of Normal, Bryant climbs inside the skin of the antagonist and saunters around like the best of sociopaths. She portrays the dark side of typical sociopathic behavior with the usual rationale which encompasses these types of socially manipulative people. Then she ratchets it up. Over and over.
Just when you think the light isn’t going to shine anymore, because after all, you’re wearing the sociopath’s skin right along with the author, along comes detective Hardy. Hardy adds comforting heart to the story. You can’t help but love this guy. Or at least I can’t. Reminiscent of beleaguered detectives we rooted for years ago on the screen and TV, Hardy balances the dark side of the twisted mind of the killer, with the sense of rightness in the world. He flings us the life preserver of belief that there are still people who can’t be bought, and who stand between us and all that would take us down.
This age-old battle of right against wrong, of insanity against what’s deemed normal, rages fiercely all the way through the book, until the end. Then it leaps forward and delivers the reader a resounding wallop.
Kudos to Bryant, for walloping us good.

The Price of Normal Killing People Volume 2 Meb Bryant Lori Petak 9781539385035 Books Reviews

He has an IQ off the charts. He’s done things without a quiver of remorse that make normal people sick. The number one item on his bucket list he wants to experience normal. He knows he can be normal, if only he can find the Perfect One to pay the price.

The Price of Normal is both fascinating and chilling. The reader sees into the brain of a psychopath, while also living the parts of victim, family, and law enforcement. The twists and turns are imaginative and expertly executed (pun intended) – Remember what I wrote when you read about Windwalker.

Which weakness causes him to risk everything? “Pride, anger, desire for revenge? Yes, yes, and heck yes.”

I didn’t read the first book in The Killing People series. The author does a great job in The Price of Normal of bringing the reader up to speed. Thirteen people with unobjectionable day lives solve unique problems in secret. Do the ends justify the means?
Did not want to put it down!!
The second book in Meb Bryant's "Killing People" series, "The Price of Normal" does not disappoint. Featuring a sociopath who wants to be normal (whatever that is) and is willing to kill to achieve his dream. All the characters are deep and complex and the plot is full of unexpected twists and turns. You won't easily figure out this one!
This was my first book to read by Meb Bryant and I'm anxious to read more. A diagnosed sociopath believes he can change with the right person by his side. This novel moved at a quick pace that kept me turning the pages. The varied relationships between the characters ran the gamut from normal to downright chilling. Several times I thought I had everything figured out and the author threw in a delicious new twist.

Great read for people who like a good psychological thriller.
Ms. Bryant succeeds, once again, in taking her readers through a jaunty trip down mystery lane. . . though mystery might be the wrong word. She has her own voice that is recognizable throughout her books, and THE PRICE OF NORMAL, is no exception. Kinda reminds me of Janet Evanovich. If you like Janet's work, you are sure to enjoy The Price of Normal and Meb's other books. I was impressed by the realistic dialog, the pacing, and mostly the fabulous twist towards the end, after which I maintained an interest in reading. I say this because, sometimes, once we are given the twist, we don't want to keep reading. No spoilers here. All I can safely say, then, is the book is about a sociopath. He kidnaps a young woman. The cops and her family, of course, get involved. Sorry, but like I said, I can't go into it more than that without giving it away. You'll have to see for yourself.
I recommend this book as top notch. After you read it, please write a review for this writer.
