The style of this book is interesting. What I mean is the content is written by a person about their life experience and as such there does not need to be much description about the people, places, or things. In other words the author does not have to describe the house because the "author" character is writing about his own life. In that case why would you have to describe your own house to your son (in the book) who also knows that house.Anyway that means there is less fluff and the book moves along nicely and the story is engaging. I was impressed with the story and the history of how things were in KY a few decades ago. Lots of smoking and whiskey drinking. It appeared the younger generation (son and daughter of main character)was not into the smoking at least which is a trend in KY I think (and a good one!). All the smoking going on I could feel myself choking on the smoke and sensing the nasty smell on the characters. But that was the way it was for sure.
I bought the other book by this author "Grayson Springs" and I hope it is as enjoyable as this one.

Wow, great book. Couldn't put it down. Being from Louisville where alot of it took place I could relate to the places. Ron puts alot of inspiring messages within his stories. The message of naming your conscience is fantastic and I have already talked to my Grandson and named his conscience. Thanks Ron
I LOVED this book. Author Ron Gambrell put me into this story like a Hoover on steroids! I had such a hard time putting it down. It needs to be on every shelf!

I was born and raised in Grayson County. I read Grayson Springs also and waiting for his next book. I could visualize the places in Ron's two books.
I greatly enjoyed Ron Gambrell's SIX LITTLE SCARS. Ron brings the characters to life with good character depth and development, they are believable and intriguing. The plot grabs you right up front... at the very beginning and gets you wondering and curious, the best of all worlds. From there, it's fast paced with ins and outs and twists and turns, especially in the tunnels inspired by actual events, I believe, from Viet Nam. All in all a good read, and I highly recommend it.

This was a great book. This is the first book I have read in 10 years or more and I could not put it down. I read the entire book in 3 evenings after work and had to make myself put it down to go to sleep. I was told about this book while visiting my father on vacation. Ron Gambrell is one of my fathers childhood friends and is actually in this book. I have ordered Ron's book Grayson Springs and can't wait for it to arrive.
